I've had some knife sets that have lasted a long time, but when my wife and I got married we got a lot of Kitchenaid tools for our kitchen, one of which was this knife set. The knife set really does a good job, the quality is there but I found that our knives have little rust spots on them after a few years of use. The construction however is touch, we've never bent or broken any of these knives and everything has stayed sharp. Occasionally we will sharpen the knives but for the most part we don't even think about it.

I would have liked to see these knives last longer without getting little rust spots, but overall they held up for a few years and for the price I don't think you can beat the quality. Our knives are approx 4 years old.

I bought these on sale from the local grocery store, damaged box only. A great deal at $20.

The knives are really sharp, I know these are only cheap compared to how much you could spend on knives but a good 'intro' set for the beginner. I'd only ever had hand me downs or walmart sets before and the difference with sharp knives when cooking is amazing!

Much more enjoyable.

I've never had a problem with any Kitchenaid product, they are usually built well and good value.

These do rust easily though however someone in our household, who shall remain nameless, did put some of them in the dishwasher and they are the ones that have rusted a little.

Handwash only!

I didn't want to "skimp" on knives like I had in the past, but since they were Kitchenaid and only $30 I figured it wouldn't be the end of the world. I really love these knives! They slice as good as my mother's $200 set. (They cut through chicken like butter!) And if rust does become an issue, Old Dutch or Vim remove it easily. I highly recommend these knives to anyone that does a lot of cooking and doesn't want to spend a fortune. Enjoy!

This little carafe has become our main way of making coffee: the coffee is delicious in that way that only french-press can be, and stays drinkably hot for an hour or two. Being all-stainless, it seems to wash up fine in the dishwasher, too, which to me is a big bonus. My one complaint is the design of the spout. No matter how carefully I pour, coffee dribbles down the side of the pot and makes a puddle on the counter. A slightly larger spout would make this pot absolutely perfect.

I've contemplated spending more money on a "fancier" french press, for a while now. When I broke the 4th or 5th one, I decided the time had finally come. I was absolutely frantic with anticipation during the few days I was without early morning coffee. But, now that I know I cannot break this one, I can rest easy about never having to experience that EVER AGAIN! Not only is it shatter proof, it keeps your coffee warm for at least an hour. When my husband makes a whole pot, and thinks I might want a cup, I don't have to drink it right away!(reheating is NEVER an option!)
We love it so much, we may even have it engraved! The only slight bummer is that it kinda dribbles if you don't pour just-so. what a small price to pay! :)

I didn't give it 5 stars because of the pouring issue but this is a great deal. I have an espresso machine as well but I love the coffee this makes. I use it at work because it's too much trouble and risk to take an expensive espresso machine back and forth. I have noticed that some coffees really taste better made in the French Press. I roast my own beans. I love beans from La Amistad Farms in Costa Rica no matter how brewed, Ethiopian Harrar either as espresso or in the French Press, Bali Blue Moon and Kintamani any way they are brewed, and Brazilian Raisin beans from the French Press.

I have broken a couple of glass presses so I love the stainless steel. The price is great. It holds it's heat longer due to the double sided construction. The only down side is you have to be careful when you pour because it will get you and your desk wet if you're not. Also, It says it's a 6 cup but I fill it from a 4 cup pyrex measuring cup and it won't take any more than 4 cups... Read more

I take this unit on vacation with us - I use it at home - I take it to over nighters anywhere.

I see some reviews that say it has no temp adjustment - well, it simply would be useless if it did.

Pour in the batter and set the timer for 3 min 45 seconds and two waffles are done to perfection - each time and everytime. It has never failed after hundreds of waffles

I also see some noise about it being large and bulky - well, if you want a heavy duty machine that will out last you, this is what you get. I have no trouble taking it everywhere.

The best unit ever!

PS: The very best waffle mix is the malted mix from Williams Sonoma - wow! I am going to make some now . . .

I recommend the purchase of this waffle baker.

I purchased the baker from Amazon.com using bonus points on 12/18/10. S&H was included which is one of the reasons I like using Amazon. Plus, the price was right.

I received the unit via UPS in three days after ordering. Even though it was Christmas time, Amazon was just as fast as I usually find them. The packaging was excellent and the package was received unscathed.

Cons.
The unit is made in China. I find that a little disappointing as the stainless steel and workmanship is good, but not the same quality as products made in the USA.
There were a few small scratches on various places to the unit. But, not to the extent that it is worth returning for a different unit.
The waffle make unit does not sit level in the cradle and has to be adjusted to insure that it is level. When turning the unit it will go just a little beyond... Read more

We have a couple of other Kitchenaid products, so I knew this waffle baker would be built like a tank. The instructions were well written and pretty straightforward. It is simple to operate and the waffles I made this morning came out great. I used a basic waffle recipe (you can get mixes, but it only take a few minutes to make it from scratch). I started out with the timer (which is very simple to operate) set to 4 minutes; this was good but the waffles wanted to stick just a tiny bit, so I tried setting at 4.5 minutes, which was perfect.

The waffles were delicious, and HUGE. Yes, you can make a lot of waffles very quickly, but really, you only need to make a few of these waffles to feed a crowd. I made 5 waffles this morning for six people (four young kids, two adults), and had one whole waffle left over. The waffles separate into quarters very easily, and one quarter is definitely a good bit for one plate. If I could give it 6 stars, i would.

This item is cute. I thought with "Kitchenaid" I couldn't go wrong. This is a wonderful beater. Does the job well with thinner batters. Unfortunately I like to make cake alot, like pound cake. The thickness of these batters is just a little too much for this little beater. It slows down and speeds up during use, and on the box it's called an "energy saver". Truth is, it just slows down in thick batter because there's not enough power to push the beaters! Felt like chanting "I think I can, I think I can"...
Bottom line, if you're looking for something to make cookie batter, dough, etc., this is not the toy for you.

In 2004 the Bodum Chambord coffee press received the American Culinary Institute's award for best French press coffeemaker.

The American Culinary Institute judges food preparation products such as mixers, waffle makers, and electric teakettles. These products are judged on criteria important to consumers such as ease-of-use, safety, and the quality of the food produced. The institute also judges food preparation products used in restaurants and hotels, including institutional mixers, large-volume coffee machines, and food slicers.

Instructions for Use

1. Place pot on a dry, flat, nonslip surface. Hold handle firmly, then pull the plunger straight up and out of the pot.

2. For each 1.25-deciliter/4-ounce cup, put 1 rounded tablespoon or 1 Bodum scoop of coarse-ground coffee into the pot.

Caution: Use only coarse-ground coffee. Fine grind can clog the filter and create high pressure. Place coffee maker on a heatproof, nonslip surface.

3. Pour hot (not boiling) water into the pot. Leave a minimum of 2.5 centimeters/1 inch of space at the top. Stir the brew with a plastic spoon.

Caution: Metal spoons can scratch or chip the glass beaker and cause breakage.

4. Place the plunger unit on top of the pot. Turn lid to close off the pour spout opening. (Does not apply to the Brazil models.) Do not press down. Let the coffee brew for at least 4 minutes.

5. Hold the pot handle firmly, with the spout turned away from you, then using just the weight of your hand, apply slight pressure on top of the knob to lower the plunger straight down into the pot. Lowering the plunger slowly with minimal pressure produces best results. If the filter clogs or it becomes difficult to push down the plunger you should remove the plunger from the pot, stir the brew, and then slowly plunge again.

WARNING: Using excessive force can cause scalding liquid to shoot out of the pot.

6. Turn the lid to open the pour spout and then pour coffee.

7. Unscrew the filter assembly and clean the plunger unit after each use. All parts are dishwasher-safe.

Safety Instructions

Not for stovetop use.
Check glass beaker for scratches, cracks, or chips. Do not use a pot that is scratched, chipped, or cracked. Install a replacement beaker before using the pot again.
Keep children away while using. Hot water is a hazard to small children!
Do not allow children to use this coffeemaker.

Company History

In 1944 Peter Bodum, the father of today's owner, Joergen Bodum, started Bodum in Copenhagen. Times were difficult at the end of World War II; there was hardly any trade and people were out of work. Peter Bodum managed to wholesale a very small variety of housewares products by Danish manufacturers.

After the war Peter Bodum got an import license for kitchen and tabletop products; he traveled all over Europe and ended up importing kitchen and housewares to Denmark. As in the rest of Europe in those days, a lack of products in Denmark meant a market existed for almost anything to be sold. He specialized in glassware from Eastern Europe.

In the '50s Peter Bodum started developing his own products. He collaborated with the Danish architect Kaas Klaeson for a range of coffeemakers. At the time, industrial-design-type kitchen products were very rare. The first Bodum product to hit the market in 1958 was the Santos coffeemaker--based on a vacuum coffee brewing system. It became an instant sensation not only in Denmark but in all of Europe. Bodum still produces the original Santos design to this very day.

Bodum grew steadily during the '60s, but sadly, in 1967, at the age of only 57, Peter Bodum passed away. His wife managed the company until 1974, when she offered her 26-year-old son Joergen to join her in the management of the company. Joergen quickly brought on board Carsten Joergensen--then a teacher at the Danish School of Art in Copenhagen--and soon put him in charge of overall design for Bodum, including everything from products to corporate design, exhibitions, shops, buildings, catalogs, and advertising. It turned out to be a very long and fruitful collaboration. The two men began to fulfill Bodum's credo--"good design doesn't have to be expensive"--in lots of different ways.

In 1974 the first fruit of Joergen and Carsten's collaboration was introduced: the French coffee press Bistro. It was also the first incorporation of the new Bodum design language--beautiful simplicity and excellent materials for everyday life. Many more variations of coffee presses followed. Since 1974 Bodum has produced over 50 million French presses, taken the leap from "coffee" to "kitchen," and developed and produced a large variety of beautiful household and tabletop designs.

In 1979, when he took over the company, Joergen Bodum decided to move to Switzerland in order to be more centrally located in Europe. He chose the Lucerne area, where Bodum's head office has been located since the early '80s.

In 1980 Bodum Switzerland and its design unit, Pi-Design, were founded. Then, in 1986, the opening of Bodum's first shop in London marked another milestone in the Bodum history. It was designed not only to be the perfect showcase for the large variety of Bodum products but to embody an even stronger presentation of Bodum as an international brand. Many more shops in many more cities all over the world followed: Paris, Copenhagen, Zurich, Lucerne, Tokyo, New York, Dallas, Okinawa, Auckland, and many more. To this day there are 52 Bodum stores worldwide.

With more and more of its own stores in place, Bodum continued broadening its collection of beautifully designed everyday life products--from kitchen to home. Today Bodum offers its customers everything from the latest coffee- and tea-making products to tabletop, kitchen, storage, textiles, bathroom, and home office products. Some stores also have a café where Bodum's own selection of coffees and teas are served.

The Bodum Group is, and always has been, a 100 percent family-owned business. Today the company operates in 14 different countries with over 700 employees worldwide. Bodum has holding companies in Denmark and Switzerland as well as 12 sales companies, 3 production companies, and a design company called Bodum Design Group, located in Switzerland.

This press works pretty well. It's made of mostly plastic so I thought the first time I poured boiling water in it it would crack. Not so. I have two of these, this one and the one with the insulated rubber ring. They have had daily use for a month and still in like new shape. Both cups are insulated and will keep coffee hot for an hour or so. You do get a few grounds, but that's true with just about any press. It helps if you wait a few minutes after pressing to take your first sip. I keep one of these at work and I make the coffee in it and then pour it through a tea strainer into my mug. Keeps the grounds out and the extra coffee hot. The one downside is adding cream and sugar to the travel mug. Once the coffee is made you have to add it through the drinking opening. Tricky, especially for sugar and powdered creamer. I tried adding powdered creamer and sugar to the coffee grounds before brewing; worked fine. You can add syrup to the grounds first as well. I don't drink a lot of coffee anymore but I know what a good cup of coffee is. I've had several different small single cup coffee makers and this one by far is the coolest and best. It makes a really good cup of coffee and I can leave the house with it, less dishes! Surprisingly it keeps the coffee warmer than other self contained travel presses I've had. All in all, I'd buy this one again.

I have owned a lot of blenders and this one is very impressive. I was tempted to give it 4 stars as it is not the best blender I have ever owned. That distinction goes to the Vita-Mix which has a nuclear reactor for a base, sounds like a Harley and cost as much as a microwave but if you need a blender that can crush anything and make flour and HOT soup....well....but back to the KitchenAid.

First it looks great. As a home chef, having a sleek modern looking kitchen is important. Second it is easy to clean... I will never own a push button (i.e. old Oster-type) blender again. Nor one with a multi piece jar. One leak can and has ruined an evening or party, as you run to grab paper towel and dish clothes to control the margarita or soup that is running across your counter and down your cabinets. Then the fun of cleaning your blender nooks begin....grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

This is an excellent, high-quality blender. We replaced an inexpensive Oster with it and like this KitchenAid much, much more. Things I really like:

1) Power - this blender whips through hard-frozen fruit like nothing is there for wonderful smoothies.
2) Smooth, one piece control panel - makes for super-easy clean-up as there are no cracks or crevices to trap spills. Yet, the buttons behind the panel still have a nice tactile click response so you know you pressed one.
3) Brushed nickel finish - very attractive on your counter.
4) Polycarbonate jar - this worried me when considering this purchase as our old blender had a nice, thick glass jar. But, after using this blender for 3 months, I like this jar better. It is thick, yet lightweight, and hasn't scratched (although I only use rubber or silicone spatulas inside any way).

If you're into crushed ice and smoothie type drinks, this is easily the best one I've found. It reduces ice cubes to a smooth slush in just seconds. The "crush ice" mode pulses on and off to crush the ice quickly and few more seconds at a higher speed smooths it out and adds some air volume. It also looks very sleek, so won't mind leaving it out on your bar or in the kitchen.

The handle is just right to grip when I press the grounds/water and comfortable for safe pouring. All the parts seem very well made for something so inexpensive and they all fit together quite well. You get a small scoop to judge how much ground coffee to add to your mixture.

It is simplicity itself to use. One scoop per one cup of coffee. Add your coffee and your boiling water and stir. Put the lid on and arrange it so the spout is in the closed position with the splatter guard to prevent spillage. Hold the handle and with the other hand gently but firmly press down on the plunger. Then just turn the lid again so the filtered spout is lined up with the main spout and serve.

Bonjour Ami-Matin make quite a selection of high quality products, with an emphasis on functionality without losing style, and this is no exception.
The unbreakable Tritan plastic beaker is a plus (I smashed my last glass one by dropping it while cleaning)and of course dishwasher safe is essential these days.
Where this scores high for me is in the silicon edged patented filtering lid that really cuts down on sediment, compared to my older steel edged pistons, let's hope it has the same longevity.
Another plus of course is BPA Free. We bought this press because our old one had a glass caraffe, which broke. The price seemed sweet for less than twenty bucks and free shipping for the black version. We have been using coffee presses for a decade, and really enjoyed our previous one. This one works just fine, but has a couple of annoying qualities. For some reason, if you pour too much liquid at once, it tends to dribble down the side, even as you are pouring it at a downward angle, and coffee ends up on the counter. You also have to be sure to hold the lid closed as you pour, otherwise the top will come loose and you'd have a mess. It's also difficult to push down all the way (or impossible) and you cannot get that last bit of coffee out. If you can accept all of these little things, and we have, the press does a find job of making a good cup of coffee. My hubby and I are the only 2 ppl who drink coffee here, so it makes enough for the 2 of us to get about a mug and a half each. So, it does the job.

Since purchasing my 5 qt kitchen aid bowl lift mixer, I have had some difficulty with the design. It has been a trial to mix up whipping cream, for example. The bowl is too deep for the smaller amount of liquid. It was a tedious chore to constantly stop and scrape the bowl. Therefore I was really excited to see this bowl advertised for the 5 qt bowl lift mixers.
I attempted to fit it on my mixer & then the disappointment settled in. The bowl would have worked wonderfully except the holes that fit over the prongs on the mixer were off. The ad did not specify that it only fit certain 5 qt mixers. Apparently mine was not on the list. Be very aware before you buy this.
I think it is a wonderful idea & only wish they would make one to fit mine.

I seem to be trying every coffee press on Amazon, with dismal results. After breaking _another_ glass Bodum french press, we decided to go to stainless steel. The problem is that all the stainless press pots so far have high prices, combined with quality issues, as detailed in my other reviews. Now for this one:

Okay, first, it does not come with a "3-part stainless screen" as described. Actually, it comes with a one-piece screen assembly with a silicone edge gasket and stainless screen material molded into a plastic frame. If you have an old 3-part stainless screen assembly lying around (from a broken glass Bodum, perhaps...) you can screw that on, as the threads are the same size, or just use the whole assembly, lid and all.

Personally, I don't at all appreciate plastic in my food, much less in my scalding hot coffee. There is no safe amount of plasticizer for the human body to contain, and all plastics release chemicals, most especially when... Read more

Bodum makes a great French Press.
1. The coffee stays hot long enough for me to drink it all. Yes, one person can drink 34 ounces of coffee in 2 hours. 2. The filter screen works well with the rubber or silicone gasket around the edge. 3. You can actually pour from the press into a cup without spilling coffee. The Bunn was ridiculous when it came to pouring. 4. Did I mention Hot? The coffee is much hotter than any drip pot to begin with. It can stay hot 3 hours in an insulated mug. 5. The stainless steel will not be easy to damage.
Anything I don't like? The top has a lot of plastic in it, so you want to be careful how you store it, I usually keep it in the press after rinsing. The filter screen is plastic too.
I've owned this item 7 weeks and use it daily. I give it 5 stars because it meets or exceeds my expectations.

This is my 2nd Bodum French Press and it's a good 1. My other is the standard glass version that is a classic & works well. This unit is smaller but still a decent size for 1-2 or even 3 good sized servings. I wanted this pot for two reasons; the 1st being the double wall construction to retain heat. My glass Bodum makes great coffee, but my only gripe with it is in the cooler months, I always had to reheat the coffee. This unit definitely retains the heat at least twice as long and probably longer - especially if it's pre-heated. The 2nd reason I wanted it is for longevity. Although I never had a problem with my glass Bodum, it's 3 years old & from what I've read of others....it's inevitable mine is due to shatter. The double walled stainless pot eliminates that fear, it's solid. But, the rest of this pot did let me down a bit as far as it's perceived durability, especially the screen/strainer(the reason for 4 stars). I make a lot of bread using my KitchenAid mixer, and for years I have tolerated my 4.5 quart Ultra Power KitchenAid mixer. Anytime a recipe called for 6 cups of flour, I knew I would have to finish the recipe by hand. The 4.5 quart bowl just couldn't handle that much dough. I just purchased the Pro 600 with the spiral dough hook, and all I can say is WOW! The new spiral hook works totally different than the older C-hook. No longer does the dough "slap" against the side of the bowl. Instead the sprial dough hook brings the dough to the middle of the bowl for mixing and kneading. You can see how much more effective this tool is. I have already ran 5 different bread recipes through this mixer, and I haven't had to finish any of the by hand yet. Just enough to shape the dough before proofing. The 6 quart bowl is a must have for bread makers! Now I just have to figure out how to give away all this bread!

I have owned this machine for a little over a year now. Well, actually I have gone through five of these machines in the last 16 months, as each one has broken while kneading wheat dough. I use approximately 6-7 cups of wheat flour per each batch of bread. This should not be too much for this powerful machine, especially since it is advertised to handle wheat dough. I have since also had to purchase a Bosch Universal for my bread making. I have also heard excellent reports about the Electolux mixer for kneading wheat bread.

My recipe calls for a 6 minute kneading time, but each Kitchenaid got too hot and shut off after only a couple of minutes of kneading.(This time fluctuated with each machine.) I would have to wait for it too cool down. I even tried blowing a fan on one of them while it kneaded to keep it cool. It was useless.

The first time I called Kitchenaid they told me I should only knead my bread for 2 minutes at a time. This bothered me... Read more
